A hand full of real questions:
1. Did Jesus preach Truth or this caricature many call “The Gospel”?
2. What did Jesus tell the Apostles to preach?
3. What did the Apostles preach?
4. Do Jesus or the Apostles ever tell us to preach condemnation?
5. Do you ever see the Apostles preaching repentance absent of preaching Christ resurrected and the world reconciled to God?
6. Was there ever an occasion when preaching Christ Jesus Resurrected that there wasn’t a show of the Spirit’s Power as a testimony of that Truth?
Joseph,
Clearly you have a disagreement with what was preached. That’s fine. What specifically do you see that is not consistent with scripture? Just state your disagreement. The gospel IS truth. It is the good news of what Jesus Christ did, and it is wrapped up not only in what He preached but in His death and resurrection as propitiation for our sins. Jesus and the apostles preached the reality of sin and hell (if that is what you are referring to when you say condemnation), and eternal life through repentance and faith in Christ alone. Those who repent and trust are reconciled to God, not the whole world, though people from the whole world are certainly. The transforming power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is the greatest show of power the world has ever known. Power displayed in supernatural acts if fine, but won’t convert anyone by itself. Only the Holy Spirit working through the proclamation of the Gospel does that, though miracles are a method God sometimes chooses to use in that process, as He did in the New Testament.
